Traditional Irish Bread Making Experience

Would you like to know how local traditional Northern Irish breads and traybakes are made? Tracey invites you to join her for a unique Irish bread making experience with a festive twist in her home on the shores of Strangford Lough.

Upon arrival you will be offered a warm Irish welcome and will start with a cup of coffee or tea and some homemade sweet treats. Then we get started – aprons on and let’s get baking! We start our session with a traditional Irish Fruit Soda Cake. This is a sweet treat and delicious with lots of homemade Irish butter.

You will start with a tea or coffee and some homemade tray bakes, which are a local sweet treat – then it’s aprons on and you’ll get to making breads! This will be a relaxed session where you can choose to sit back and watch or get involved.

While the Fruit Soda Cake is baking in the stove oven, we will make some potato bread or fadge as we call it. We will add fillings of your choice to the potato mix – scallions or cheese. We will also make Soda Bread – my favourite! We have various alternatives for the Soda Bread – which you may or not add as you please – treacle, currants and sultanas or cinnamon.
